Mrs. Shamlu Dudeja took charge of Calcutta Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, in 1995. This NGO was put together for the less privileged string musicians from Oxford Mission by Mrs. Fran Caterini, in 1993.
Since 1995, the Foundation’s activities have increased manifold, to cover diverse areas. The Foundation supports members of many under-privileged communities, and is relentlessly engaged in empowering a number of people of all age groups, through rehabilitation, education and vocational training.
Calcutta Foundation is committed to its motto: “Wipe a tear, Spread a Smile”, through its support to many sufferers in a vast range adversities;such as the ravages of the Tsunami in the Andamans and Nicobar Islands, or the needs of Udayan, Barrackpore, a school and a homefor children of leprosy sufferers. Some activities are planned and carried out either independently or collaboratively with other NGOs.
Calcutta Foundation with its meager capability is committed to stand by social causes and make financial contributions where-ever and when-ever is required. The organization is grateful to friends and patrons in India and abroad, for their support.
